Life and Style for Men
Thriving with confidence in the midlife years
We’re living in a time when aesthetic value and appearance matters, and has its own substance. In fields such as real estate and architecture, politics, fashion, economics, technology–the sensory way in which we experience things has value. We increasingly expect and benefit from beauty in everyday objects.
Victor Frankl was a survivor of the Holocaust, who also happened to be a psychiatrist. This book contains his reflections of the horrors of the death camps from both a personal and professional perspective. A dramatic account of survival, it also highlights the importance of meaning and purpose in the midst of dire circumstances. Worth reading and re-reading.
A engaging website for men. Emphasizing classic values and virtues, The Art of Manliness provides entertaining and informative insights on everything from style and fitness, to how to sharpen a knife or use bear spray. A treasure trove of useful material for men in all Seasons of Life!
Rustic Town is a great resource for quality, affordable leather products. The leather travel toiletry bag I have has traveled all over the world with me, and looks better with use. You’ll find travel bags, journal covers, wallets, backpacks, etc., at affordable prices.
I love the look and feel of a bamboo fly rod. I have a vintage South Bend Crossbuilt from 1947, given to me by an elderly friend many years ago, but I have another, much newer bamboo rod (hand built by a friend) that I actually use for fishing. New bamboo rods are often out of the price range for many of us. If you fly fish (or would like to start), and have wondered what fishing bamboo would be like, Headwaters Bamboo Rods builds a quality, affordable option. Best of all, the rods in their series are named for iconic Oregon rivers, so, a nod to my home state!
If you love to travel, as I do, you’re always looking for inspiration, tips, and resources. There are so many great travel resources out there, I can’t begin to get into all of them. I’ve enjoyed looking through this one, Explored Planet, and I think you would find it to be a nice gateway to discovering other travel resources for yourself. I look forward to the day when we can more freely travel and explore again. In the meantime, sites like this can help scratch our travel itch!
